Perhaps as a new Buick Roadmaster? China already gets a version of the Caprice as a Buick, namely the Park Avenue.
But, alas, North America will probably never see mainstream Holdens again. Shame, moving the production line to North America could give the RWD Holden a new breath of life, and it would probably compete well with the Charger and 300.

We get the Chevy SS. Damn near the same thing

Not in Canada. Plus it’s hardly a mainstream car. It’s more of a niche market car.

It’s basically the same car.

The SS is based off the Commodore SS.

Damn. I wish I had the cash for an SS. Sometimes I see one in the mornings on my commute. It’s blue. And very pretty. And sometimes it’s an RS7. It’s very loud. And also very pretty.

They didn't sell the SS in Canada? The hell?

Nope!
Damn shame too. Second time we’ve been screwed out of a kickass Aussie muscle car that the USA got. We didn’t get the mid-2000s GTO either. I don’t even think we got the G8 GXP, just the GT.

They’re getting pretty easy to find as ex-cop cars in the U.S. now.

So this is sold as a Holden, a Vauxhall ... and RWD? Surprised the taxi owners haven’t demanded them for NYC.

I think the only Holdens rebadged as Vauxhalls sold recently are the VXR8, and the Maloo.

the export Caprice (WM) is just a long wheelbase VE Commodore. Everything from the b pillars forward is interchangeable, and most of the important stuff rear from that too.
The SS is based on the VF Commodore which is a bit-more-than-a-facelift of the VE.

You can import them from the US if you hate the Dodge Charger that much.

I wonder sometimes how a rebadged Maloo would do here in US America .... We had the Chevy El Camino, we had a Ford Ranchero, we even had a pickup version of the VW Rabbit and the Dodge Omni. The guy that bought my ‘87 300D was upgrading from a Rabbit diesel pickup. Day one he backed it into his garage and snapped off the antenna. Declined to do further repairs.

Ye’, they are sold in the U.K. under the VXR range of
Corsa VXR, GTC VXR, VXR8 GTS, Maloo R8 LSA and the Insignia VXR.

You have R33s, though. I’d call that a fair trade.

The SS is a Commodore, the Caprice is a Statesman...so I’ve been told, almost completely different cars. :)

no way i can justify a SS in my garage, but i want one so bad

I’m fascinated by the fact that the Chinese view Buick as a luxury brand. Driving a big foreign car is conspicuous over there and as a result, they have become status symbols. Why Buick became so popular over there is still a mystery to me

Just stretched out a few inches.

Buy used dective Caprice with 6.0 since LS3 isn’t an option. Buy Holden grille and emblems or be all fancy and get the HSV Grange parts. Remove interior and replace with leather G8 interior. Remove DOD crap from engine. Drive in your new Holden Caprice/HSV Grange.

Why do the police even use them? Surely they could use the SS like the police in Australia

Short answer is: They don’t. The Caprice has been a complete flop for police when compared to the Taurus, Charger, and even the Explorer.
